Amazing Grace Reading Rainbow Book

Grace loves stories, whether they’re from books, movies, or the kind her grandmother tells. So when she gets a chance to play a part in Peter Pan, she knows exactly who she wants to be. Remarkable watercolor illustrations give full expression to Grace’s high-flying imagination.

5 Stars Amazing Grace
I got the book as a gift for my grand daughter who likes to draw. The vivid colors and expressions on the characters faces should keep her interested for a while. The story line is an added bonus.

I liked this story because Grace can be Peter Pan if she put her mind to it. My favorite part is after the ballet. I would recommend this book to a friend because its about your imaginery. The book is amazing.

This is a great story with a great message. It tells children there are no limits to what they can be. It tells children not to be deterred by sterotypes or opinions. You can be anything you set your mind to. I bought copies for both my son and my niece.

5 Stars Excellent Book!
I loved this book! It was a quick, easy read but the stories brought tears to my eyes. Very well written!

3 Stars Good but should’ve been great
The writing style in this book is a wee bit too simplistic for my liking. Yeah, I realize it’s a children’s book but kids do appreciate descriptive, emotional writing just as much as us older folks. It’s what hooks you. Despite that these true stories of once unwanted dogs who have beaten the odds and found loving homes are inspiring. A big black dog (the hardest to adopt out) becomes an agility champion, a terrier mix whose loving owner passes away is nearly euthanized until a shelter volunteer utters a magic word that spares his life, a large rowdy, unaltered (and unadoptable) dog is taken in by a disabled woman who trains him into an award winning service dog.

5 Stars Heartwarming
Anyone who cares about animals should read this book, and if you want to get across to others what animals really go through then read this. I’m not sure how many people could deal with what abandoned animals deal with

4 Stars For Young and Old
This book was purchased to be presented to the participants of the youth division (ages9-12) of competitors at our dog trials. The sponsor for the trials was a local dog rescue organization, so the book lent itself to the occasion.

Before giving them away, I had an opportunity to sit down and read it. The stories were interesting, well-written and were fine examples of how far we can go with a little love, compassion and care for others, be they people or dogs. As one of the young ladies I have talked to that received a copy of the book said, ” Those stories were so great, that I now walk my dog without my mother having to tell me. And I even ask my pesty brother if he wants to go with us.”

Highly recommend this book. Maybe if you are thinking about getting a dog, you’ll think twice and give a “forever home” to a deserving animal at a rescue or shelter.

2 Stars It was okay
I didn’t realize when I bought this that it is not really an adult-geared book. The stories are very short and written in very elementary terms, apparently targeted at children. Left me wanting more information about the animals.

The Gulf Stream Tiny Plankton Giant Bluefin and the Amazing Story of the Powerful River in the Atlantic Caravan Book

The Gulf Stream Tiny Plankton Giant Bluefin and the Amazing Story of the Powerful River in the Atlantic Caravan Book

Driving through the Atlantic Ocean is a powerful current with a force 300 times that of the mighty Amazon. First discovered by Ponce de Leon in 1513, it sped ships laden with fortunes in spices, sugar, and rum from the New World back to Spain and also guided the ships of the buccaneers who preyed on them. Later, the current was essential to the development of the transatlantic slave trade. So important were the economic benefits of this ocean conveyor belt to American traders that early maps of it—charted with the help of Benjamin Franklin—were kept as closely guarded secrets.

Stan Ulanski explores the fascinating science and history of this sea highway known as the Gulf Stream, one of the last vestiges of wilderness on Earth. Spanning both distance and time, Ulanski’s investigation reveals how the Gulf Stream affects and is affected by every living thing that encounters it—from tiny planktonic organisms to giant bluefin tuna, from ancient mariners to big game anglers. He examines the scientific discovery of ocean circulation, the biological life teeming in the stream, and the role of ocean currents in the settlement of the New World. The Gulf Stream continues to be important today for trade and sport, for the irreplaceable habitat it provides for plant and animal species, and for its key part in changing weather patterns and the climate of the North Atlantic region. The Gulf Stream is an essential introduction to this vital natural wonder.

5 Stars Horse Heroes
excellent book. I will be sending it to my five year old niece who loves horses.

4 Stars Good stuff.
Kate Petty, Horse Heroes: The Stories of Amazing Horses (Dorling Kindersley, 1999)

Horse Heroes is another forty-eight page kids’ reader about horses. Yes, I seem to be reading a lot of those lately. This one’s kind of fun. Petty presents us with four to five page stories on a number of different horses, of disparate breeds and achievements, and makes them interesting and fun to read about. Definitely worthwhile for the horse-loving kid in your life. ***

Gods Amazing Creatures and Me Devotions for Boys and Girls Ages 6 to 10 Devotions for Boys and Girls Ages 6 10

Gods Amazing Creatures and Me Devotions for Boys and Girls Ages 6 to 10 Devotions for Boys and Girls Ages 6 10

A creation devotional for children ages 6-10, which shows detailed, pen and ink illustrations of animals — mammals, insects, birds — paired with a description of each, then an application for the youthful reader.

In exploring God’s awesome nature, it is helpful for children to understand God’s design for them. For example, just as the monarch butterfly emerges from a cocoon to soar to heights above the clouds, so too can we all rest in the knowledge that God has made each of us special, and He has great love and a plan for us.

5 Stars I Hope They Are Creating Another One Of These…
My son requests one of these every night. The way they tie the animals abilities/features to a portion of scripture is very cool. We are almost done with this one and I will definitely be passing it around to my son’s friends. I hope there is another edition in the works.

5 Stars More than a devotional - this is awesome!
I just bought this to use with my 5 yr. old. She LOVES animals & nature. This devotional is perfect for her.

There are 45 creatures discussed in this book. Each devotion starts off talking about a creature and it’s habits. Then, that info is used to correlate it to what the Bible says about that particular behavior. The next section asks about that aspect in the child’s life. Lastly, a memory verse accompanies each devotion.

Not only are you learning a memory verse, having self reflection, doing character building, and learning what the Bible has to say about various traits and behaviors, you are also getting a lesson in nature and science. Even I am learning things about God’s creatures that I didn’t know.

This book wins hands down over any other devotional I’ve looked at. The reading is easily understood by children; it’s not too deep for them. I think it’s awesome having a book like this that discusses things readily available in our world/environment, and it seems that children can easily relate to the creatures behaviors/traits being discussed. It uses simple, curious traits of God’s creatures to grab everyone’s attention.

I’m using this along with several readers I have to accent our science lessons, character building, and Bible study in our homeschool curriculum.

I can’t rave enough!

5 Stars This is the 1st devotional my 7 year old son really enjoys
I have purchased many devotionals for my son that have not reached him. It is usually like pulling teeth to get him to read the bible or do a devotional. God’s Amazing Creatures and Me is the devotional I’ve been searching for. He looks forward to each session and even begs me to read more than 1 a day with him. It takes an interesting fact about an animal and relates it to the Christian walk. I am amazed how he remembers the point from previous days.
